What is Myotherapy?
-
Myotherapy is the evidence based, assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal pain and associated conditions, using hands-on techniques including all types of massage, mobilisations, dry needling and cupping. Myotherapists are trained to deal with chronic pain and review your general health and wellbeing, including nutrition and physical activity.
-
A Myotherapist’s goal is to get you out of pain, help you move better and get you fitter and stronger.
- The SFMA (selective functional movement assessment): A movement based diagnostic system, designed to clinically assess 7 fundamental movement patterns in those with known musculoskeletal pain. The assessment highlights the symptoms and most importantly the cause of the pain or dysfunction, by logically breaking down dysfunctional patterns and diagnosing their root cause as either a mobility problem or a stability/motor control problem.
-
The FMS (functional movement screen): For those without pain who want to improve their movement. A baseline screen for those about to add load to their movements and for the athlete who wants to improve their performance.
- Advanced soft tissue techniques: All massage techniques, joint mobilisations, dry needling, cupping and TENS.
- Therapeutic exercise: Corrective, preventative and rehabilitative exercises to reinforce the treatment.
- Pain Education: You may have a pain problem not a tissue problem.
- Strapping and Taping: Rigid or Kinesiology taping to maintain results.
- Treatment Plan: Essential for long term resolve
